FUTA COVID-19 Prevention Protocols, Resumption Guidelines

  The management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has released the COVID-19 prevention protocols and resumption guidelines for all students of the institution. All students are to note the following guidelines for resumption: University Hostels will be opened to accommodate students as from Monday 18th January 2021. No student will be allowed into the hostels earlier than that date.  Hand washing materials will be provided at strategic points within the campus, and students should wash their hands at regular intervals.  Students are to ensure strict compliance with Covid-19 protocols by putting on their facemasks within and outside the University premises, and in this regard, each student is to have at least five (5) sets of washable facemasks.  Each student is to come with hand sanitiser, which should be in his/her possession at all times and be used at intervals. UNILAG Email Address Activation Procedure 2018


The Management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has organise a platform that ensures that all undergraduate students have a University based e-mail address. This is in line with best practices worldwide.

The platform would also ensure that all undergraduate students have access to Microsoft Office365 and all its benefits. Therefore, all undergraduate students are requested to activate their individual e-mail address by following the under-listed steps:

  1. Type portal.office.com in the URL
  2. Input the Username/UPN
    username is matricnumber@live.unilag.edu.ng
    e.g 1003456@live.unilag.edu.ng
  3. Input the password given and click sign in password is Unilag with last 5 digits of students’ matric number e.g Unilag 00456
  4. Update your password.

Please note that this can also be setup on Mobile Phones e.g Android phones after first sign-in on web browser via portal.office.com.

Current Password – The temporary password given to you
New Password – Choose password of your choice which must consist of all or any two in the bracket (character, uppercase, lowercase and numbers)
Confirm Password – Repeat the new password.

Students are expected to activate personalized e-mail address as soon as possible as all correspondences would be through the e-mail address.

  UNILORIN Announces Resumption Of Academic Activities Jan 11,2021 The management of the University of Ilorin, on Thursday, stated that the institution will resume full academic session on Jan. 11, 2021. The statement read: “following the recent suspension of the nine-month industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Senate of the University of Ilorin has approved the resumption of academic activities for the Rain Semester as from Jan.11, 2021”. The resumption of academic activities followed the Senate’s approval of proposals by the Committee of Provost and Deans in their meeting held on Dec. 30, 2020,” the statement said. The University Spokesperson added that other resolutions of the meeting included 13 weeks of lectures and three weeks of Rain Semester Examinations. “There will be only two weeks for marking and computations of results and training of staff on Virtual Learning between Jan. 4th and 8th 2021.
