FUTA COVID-19 Prevention Protocols, Resumption Guidelines

  The management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has released the COVID-19 prevention protocols and resumption guidelines for all students of the institution. All students are to note the following guidelines for resumption: University Hostels will be opened to accommodate students as from Monday 18th January 2021. No student will be allowed into the hostels earlier than that date.  Hand washing materials will be provided at strategic points within the campus, and students should wash their hands at regular intervals.  Students are to ensure strict compliance with Covid-19 protocols by putting on their facemasks within and outside the University premises, and in this regard, each student is to have at least five (5) sets of washable facemasks.  Each student is to come with hand sanitiser, which should be in his/her possession at all times and be used at intervals. UNIPORT Installs Covid-19 Treatment Center, Safety Measures Ahead Of Resumption

The university of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) plans to resume academic activities on February 1 , 2021 , following its senate ’ s decision, the institution said it has put in place measures of enforcing COVID -19 safety measures to avert any disruption of its academic activities by the second wave of the pandemic.

The Public Relations Officer of the University, Sam Kpenu , said the institution has also installed COVID -19 testing , holding and treatment centres within the university campus which had been certified by the Nigerian Centre Disease Control.

Kpenu noted that the university had also decontaminated its campus to ensure zero infections, as well as the acquisition of thermometers for student’ s temperature confirmation before and after lectures .

He said , “ The university committee has come up with COVID - 19 guidelines for the university community in line with the NCDC guidelines which has been placed on the university website . Handwashing facilities have been placed on strategic locations and at each faculty building , entrance and of course over 200 wash hand basins had been installed at the halls of residence.

“We have also provided infrared thermometers that would be placed at every entry point into the various laboratories , classrooms, hostels, faculty buildings and administrative blocks within the university . ”

  UNILORIN Announces Resumption Of Academic Activities Jan 11,2021 The management of the University of Ilorin, on Thursday, stated that the institution will resume full academic session on Jan. 11, 2021. The statement read: “following the recent suspension of the nine-month industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Senate of the University of Ilorin has approved the resumption of academic activities for the Rain Semester as from Jan.11, 2021”. The resumption of academic activities followed the Senate’s approval of proposals by the Committee of Provost and Deans in their meeting held on Dec. 30, 2020,” the statement said. The University Spokesperson added that other resolutions of the meeting included 13 weeks of lectures and three weeks of Rain Semester Examinations. “There will be only two weeks for marking and computations of results and training of staff on Virtual Learning between Jan. 4th and 8th 2021.
