FUTA COVID-19 Prevention Protocols, Resumption Guidelines

  The management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has released the COVID-19 prevention protocols and resumption guidelines for all students of the institution. All students are to note the following guidelines for resumption: University Hostels will be opened to accommodate students as from Monday 18th January 2021. No student will be allowed into the hostels earlier than that date.  Hand washing materials will be provided at strategic points within the campus, and students should wash their hands at regular intervals.  Students are to ensure strict compliance with Covid-19 protocols by putting on their facemasks within and outside the University premises, and in this regard, each student is to have at least five (5) sets of washable facemasks.  Each student is to come with hand sanitiser, which should be in his/her possession at all times and be used at intervals. Benue State Give Notice Of Resumption Of All Academic Activities

 Due to the directives of the Benue State Task Force on Covid-19 regarding the resumption of academic activities for second term of 2020/2021 session; the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Education, Prof.  Dennis A. Ityavyar hereby directs all schools in the state to re-open on 18th January, 2021 for the commencement of academic activities for the 2nd term.

Consequently, Heads of schools in the state are to ensure that Covid-19 preventive protocols are strictly observed during/after resumption.

The Honourable Commissioner wishes all Teachers and Students a prosperous New Year.

Mountain Top University Notice To Student On Resumption And Online Lectures For Academic Activities   The National Universities Commission (NUC) in line with the directives of Presidential Task Force(PTF) on Covid-19 has mandated all Universities to suspend all academic activities involving large crowds while the Universities remain closed pending further directives from the Federal Government on reopening of schools. This directive is for a period of five (5) weeks effective from 23rd December, 2020 Consequently, resumption of students on campus which was scheduled for 3rd January, 2021 is hereby suspended. *However, online lectures for students at 200 – 500 level will continue until further notice * while all 100 level and Direct Entry Students should note that Online Lecturers will commence on Monday, 4th January 2021. ASUU Members Portend "Fresh Strike"

A cross section of varsity lecturers have vowed to push for resumption of the suspended strike at their respective zonal levels over government’s ‘failure’ to honour agreements both parties reached at a meeting on December 22, last year.   Daily Trust   reports that ASUU suspended its 9-month-old strike December 23rd, 2020 following certain agreements reached by both parties, which included payment of outstanding lecturers’ salaries on or before December 31, releasing of N40bn Earned Allowance before January 15, among others. But in separate telephone interviews with our correspondent, the lecturers described the government’s refusal to honour the agreements as “insincerity”, saying such behaviour would be met with stiff resistance.
